District Attorney J. Collin Sims reports that on May 15, 2024, a St. Tammany grand jury indicted 38 year-old Julio Chavez for two counts of First degree rape of a child and two counts of Molestation of a juvenile. The grand jury also indicted 37 year-old Daniela Hernandez of Mandeville, for one count of Cruelty to a juvenile and two counts of Accessory after the fact relating to the sexual offenses allegedly committed by Julio Chavez.
The case involves incidents that occurred between 2018 and 2023. Detective Karole Muller with the Mandeville Police Department headed the investigation. Assistant District Attorney Ysonde Boland presented the case to the grand jury.
