Mildred Virginia Day

December 3, 1930 - May 24, 2024

Mildred Virginia Day of Tangipahoa went to be with Jesus on May 24, 2024 at the age of 93. She was born December 3, 1930, on her family’s farm where she resided all of her life. Mildred graduated from Kentwood High School in 1948. Thinking she may become an athletic coach, Mildred attended Southeastern for a while, but returned to the family dairy to care for her parents and the animals. After the loss of her parents, she continued to reside with her dogs on the home site where she was born. She raised baby calves, giving each one special attention and care.

She is survived by her extended family, Stewart and Tara LeBlanc, Charlie and Sawyer LeBlanc, who she referred to as “My Boys”, Jim and Linda LeBlanc with whom she lived with 2 years following the loss of her sight and hip surgery. Mildred is survived by multiple cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eva Nettles Day and sister, Catherine Tucker Day (Edwin L. Bobby, Jr.).

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 9-11 at Tangipahoa Methodist Church in the Village of Tangipahoa. Funeral Services begin at 11:00AM with Rev. Dr. Michael Townsend officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, LA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse for the Blind.

Her extended family wishes to thank the staff of St. Helena Parish Nursing Home and Hospital for their outstanding care. Special thanks to Ronnie Nettles (Marion D.D.), Karl M. Nettles (Deborah), Russell Nettles and Daisy Day Callihan.
