Bro. Elton Odell "Dale" Penton, Sr.

September 30, 1947 - May 9, 2024

Bro. Elton Odell "Dale" Penton, Sr., age 76 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Thursday afternoon May 9, 2024 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He worked as a dredge operator for Penton Gravel for many years and also Borden’s, Inc. for many years prior to their closing. Dale was an ordained minister and served the Lord throughout his life. He was pastor of New Beulah Missionary Baptist Church for several years and preached the gospel at other churches’ revival services and even traveled for mission work. He also did community outreach at nursing homes and hospitals in the area. Dale loved to plant a vegetable garden each year and work in his yard. He remodeled many houses over the years and he enjoyed watching old western movies and TV shows.

Survived by: Wife: Linda Loyd Penton of Franklinton; 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Elton Odell Penton, Jr. and Rebecca Penton of Maryville, TN, Clifford and Saundra Carpenter of Sevierville, TN; 3 Daughters and a Son in law: LaChrisha Carnegie of Franklinton, Elizabeth Rebecca Ladner of Knoxville, TN, Valinda and Danny Rester of Shreveport, LA; Grandchildren and Spouses: Justin and Katie Carnegie, Joshua and Brittany Carnegie, LaTrisha and Samuel Turbyfill, Bradley and Kristina Ladner, Savanna and Michael Hopkins, Alexis Penton and fiancé Anthony Baker, Jeralyn Rester and fiancé Kheyon Smith, Jaryd Rester, Jaylie Rester, Joy and Jimmy Brooks, Alex Carpenter, Nathan Carpenter, Dugan Dunn; Great-grandchildren: Noah, Remington, Phenix, MacKenzie, Drake, Brody, James, Phoebe, Ava Hendrix; Brother and Sister in law: James and Lynn Penton of Jackson, MS; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his first wife Rita Faye Magee Penton, son Christopher Adams, parents Ervine Elton “Red” Penton and Elizabeth Tullos Penton, sister Betty Jean Wilkes and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday May 11th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Danny Rester, Bro. Clifford Carpenter and Bro. David Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
