Newly-Formed Slidell PD Task Force Taking Criminals By Storm

Over the last several months, multiple high-risk warrants were executed by the Slidell Police
S.W.A.T. team on individuals who were murderers, gang members, armed robbers, etc… most of which had a direct nexus to drug trafficking activity, vehicle theft, and property-related crimes. Being uniquely positioned within three (3) major interstates, Slidell is sometimes chosen as a good centralized “safe place” for criminals to live. Investigators, on both the local and federal levels, have observed these criminals commit their violent crimes outside of the Northshore, but then come back to Slidell in order to hide and raise their families.

“If we didn’t take swift action, it would only be a matter of time before the violent crime starts affecting us here in Slidell, whether it be retaliatory drive-by shootings, or something more severe. We
will not stand for it and will do whatever it takes to keep our community safe,” says Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal. “I’d much rather be proactive than reactive.”

In order to combat this, Chief Fandal implemented a new task force, named the KSS Task Force (Keep Slidell Safe), to combat the ever-growing war on drugs, illegal firearms, and violent gang-related activity. The KSS Task Force consists of veteran officers from all specialized divisions, collectively making an unstoppable force. Since its implementation on April 1, 2024, the KSS Task Force has been responsible for 141 arrests in six short weeks. As a result of these arrests, the task force has

  • seized 34 grams of Cocaine, 52 grams of Fentanyl, 60 grams of Methamphetamine, 13 illegally possessed firearms, and $18,342 seized from illegal narcotics proceeds
  • made one arrest for an Attempted Homicide from a neighboring jurisdiction
  • recovered two stolen vehicles (with arrests made)
  • executed three residential search warrants on suspected drug dealer's homes

“The KSS Task Force, along with our federal partners, have taken the criminal element by storm and have played a vital part in significantly decreasing violent crime throughout Slidell and St. Tammany Parish”, said Chief Randy Fandal, who has promised to keep the Slidell community a safe place to live and a place for criminals to FEAR. The statistics from these past six weeks have proven his promise to our community.
