Obituary

James Bailey Rogers

December 15, 1936 - April 18, 2024

James Bailey Rogers, age 87 and a resident of Pine, Louisiana, passed away Thursday evening April 18, 2024 at Lakeview Hospital in Covington. He was a graduate of Pine High School and then served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a dairyman since the age of 8 years old starting alongside his father, George M. Rogers. He operated Double RR Farms, Inc. and was the active owner and manager until his death. Mr. James was a retired school bus driver, Louisiana basketball referee, worked for Great Southern in the forestry department cruising timber and helping teach incoming students at the L.S.U. Forestry Camp in Sheridan, Sweet potato farmer, dairyman, and was very active in the land and timber business. He was well known for being a distant ventriloquist and throwing his voice on people from Washington Parish and across the United States and even into another country or two. James was an outdoorsman and loved his daily rides where he would look at his timber, fields, wild game and nature in general. James was a long time Farm Bureau Board Member and recently received a plaque from the NRCS, where he was a board member for 45 years. He served previously on several dairy boards including the National Dairy Board in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of the Louisiana Forestry Association and was one of the founders of the Washington Parish Landowners Association. He loved going to Pine Chevron and Big's to drink coffee with his friends on a daily basis.

Survived by: 2 Sons and Daughter in Law & Special Friend: Vance Rogers and Tamara Rogers, Lance Rogers and Emee Aswell; Grandchildren & Spouses: Allison Rogers Graves and Ethan Graves, Gisele Nadine Rogers, Ivana Rose Rogers, River Bleu Rogers; Great Grandchildren: Griffin James Graves, Chantry Will Graves, Brooks Madison Graves; Sister: Verdie Mae Knight; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends; Special Friends: Dale Graves, Cook Byrd, Hezzie Crain, Bud Crain

He was preceded in death by his wife Nadine Lott Rogers, parents George Madison Rogers & Viola Bedwell Rogers, mother in law Lena Lott, sister and brother in law Ruthie Mae Graves & Homer Graves, sister and brother in law Nellie Ruth Jenkins & William (Bill) Jenkins, brother in law Larry Knight, brother in law Harold Lott, brother in law Ronald Lott, sister in law and brother in law Jean Lott Crain & Dr. Larry Crain, sister in law Anita Lott Ragusa, sister in law and brother in law Yvonne Martin & O.D. Martin. and his life long friend Glenn Fortenberry Sr.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton April 23rd from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Easterling, Rev. Brad Cooper, Rev. Joey Miller, and Rev. Jerry Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine First Baptist Church Cemetery.
