Obituary

Shayla Trene' Allen

November 1, 1981 - March 28, 2024

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.    Jeremiah 29:11

Shayla Trene’ Allen was the daughter of Janis Allen and Curtis (Kendall) Tate, Sr. Shayla was raised by both her grandmothers, Ollie Allen and Rosia Tate.

Shayla made her entrance into the world on November 1, 1981. She is the oldest of seven siblings, taking on the role with pride. Shayla cared deeply for those whom she loved. Shayla accepted Christ at an early age at Winan United Methodist Church and later became a member of Magee’s Temple COGIC. She attended Franklinton High School. Shayla played basketball as a Lady Demon. She was a graduate of the class of 1999 and went on to obtain her degree in cosmetology from Camolot College in Baton Rouge, LA. She also attended Northshore Technical Community College where she studied to become a union electrician worker. Shayla was a jack of all trades. She styled hair, danced, arts and crafts. Shayla could even change a flat tire and oil in cars. Shayla loved gardening and fishing, but most of all loved dogs. Shayla had so much love to give. 

Shayla transitioned this life at her home on March 28, 2024 leaving behind her precious memories to: her mother, Janis Allen; grandmother, Ollie Allen; three sisters, Janisca Allen and Shalay Allen of Franklinton, LA and Janisha Allen of Lafayette, LA; three brothers, Janish (Deandre) Allen of Mandeville, LA, Shayland (Dooge) Allen of Franklinton, LA, and Curtis Tate, Jr. of Killeen, TX; two Goddaughters, Kayden and Kaylon Robinson of Dallas, TX; ten aunts, seven uncles, and a host of cousins and friends whom she loved dearly. 

Shayla is preceded ‘in death by her father, Curtis (Kendell) Tate, Sr., her brother Shakerian (Tre’) Allen, and her grandparents Albert (AC) Magee, Rosia Tate, Curtis (Jack) Taylor. 

A visitation will bel held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Franklinton.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Magee's Temple Church of God in Christ with Supt. Cecealine Tate - Pastor Officiating. Interment - Winan Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
