A student at a Slidell-area junior high school was arrested over the weekend after making a threat on social media.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted Sunday (March 24, 2024) morning after the FBI received a tip that a local teenager had sent a threatening message over SnapChat.
The 14-year-old was located and admitted to sending the threatening photo. He was issued a summons for Menacing and was released on a custodial agreement to appear in court.
“We have made it very clear that comments like this will be taken seriously,” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith said. “Parents, please talk to your children and explain the seriousness of making comments like this, even in a joking manner.”
