Obituary

Donna Roberts Penton

September 24, 1943 - March 19, 2024

Donna Roberts Penton, age 80 and a resident of Mount Hermon, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning March 19, 2024 at Forest Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Covington. She was retired after a long career as a secretary for Herring Gas Company in Franklinton, after also working at Lacox and Lee Finance for a time earlier in life. Donna was a longtime active member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday School classes for many years, sang in the church choir and volunteered for all church events and meals. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV game shows and tending to her flowers. Donna was an avid LSU sports fan and loved watching any of their games every chance she could, especially the Lady Tigers basketball team. She had a special place in her heart for her pet dogs “Tinker Bell” and “Sassy” and she loved spending time with her son and family.

Survived by: Son: Randall Penton and Donna Whaley of Mt. Hermon; Grandchildren: Dixie Borne and fiancĂ© Jeremy Hebert, Dakota Borne; Great-grandchildren: Hadleigh Hebert, Ensley Hebert, Amelia Hebert, Braxton Spears; Brother and Sister in law: Truett “Tapp” Roberts and Billie Roberts of Mt. Hermon; Nephew: Marty Roberts; Special Cousin: Gail Creed of Conroe, TX; Also numerous extended family members and friends

She was preceded in death her husband Corbett W. Penton, parents C. Boss Roberts and Doris Miller Roberts and a brother Kenneth “Buster” Roberts.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday March 22nd from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am on Saturday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Leonard Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Jessica Willie, Destyni McNeese, Anayah Cooper, along with many others on the staff at Forest Manor, for their care and support.
