Capt. Don Courtney Robertson

January 10, 1942 - March 15, 2024

Don C. Robertson, 82, of Sun, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024. He was born in Picayune, Mississippi, on January 10, 1942, to the late Ellis C. Robertson Jr. and Olivia Ruby Talley. Ellis and Olivia raised him in Sun, Louisiana, and he graduated from Covington High School. At the age of 17, he met the love of his life, Mrs. Carolyn Williams Robertson, to whom he would be married to for 64 years. Shortly after they married, Mr. Robertson enlisted into the United States Air Force. Together they traveled the world living in various places, including Germany and Puerto Rico. He proudly served his country and retired as a Captain after 25 years. After retirement from the United States Air Force, Capt. Don continued his life of service by joining Louisiana State Probation and Parole. After a long career with Probation and Parole, he retired in 2011.

Capt. Don enjoyed planting, was an avid gun collector, and a fan of Mr. John Wayne. Since his retirement, he became interested in his heritage and was proud to learn of his Scottish roots. He also served as a Mason for 56 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years: Carolyn Williams Robertson; one son: Chad Courtney Robertson; a daughter: Dana Robertson Jenkins and son-in-law: Hilliard DeWitt Jenkins; one granddaughter: Megan Jenkins Franklin and grandson-in-law: Wesley Franklin; one grandson: Dillon Courtney Jenkins; and a great-grandson: Rhett Courtney Williams.

Don was preceded in death by his mother: Olivia Ruby Talley; and his father: Ellis Courtney Robertson Jr.

Monday, March 25, 2024, the Louisiana Probation and Parole will be present with their Honor Guard and escorts and the Patriot Guard Riders will also be in attendance.

Visitation and services will be held at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa, La. Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 5PM – 9PM with Masonic Rites to start at 7PM Sunday evening. Visitation will resume on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 12PM with funeral service to begin at 3PM. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Military Honors being rendered by the United States Air Force.
