Fredrick Miller
July 30, 1955 - March 9, 2024
Fredrick Miller was born to the late Earlean Miller and Pat Crain on July 30, 1955, in Independence, LA. He peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on March 9, 2024, in Los Vegas, Nevada.
Fredrick completed his education at Independence High School and soon after joined the United States Air Force REGAF. After serving his country, he and his wife Lillie moved to Upland, California and he started his career as an ironworking. From there they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to continue his career and build some of the most popular casinos which he loved to visit from time to time. He was a hardworking man that would go above and beyond for his family expectations and always delivered high – quality results. Fred was a giver. He was the husband that would leave to get the oil changed and return with a new car to surprise his Lillie Mae. After he was blessed to stay home and help raise his grandkids and what a joy and privilege this was to him. He was a proud “Poppie”. Fred found joy in the simple things in life like fishing for bluegill catfish, grilling outdoors, cooking his famous Louisiana Gumbo, and listening to music just to name a few. Fred was a man of few words but when he did it spoke volumes. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His warmth wisdom and the joy he brought to his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him will be deeply missed.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 44 years, Lillie Shanks Miller. To the union, three children was born: Deedrick (Larie) Shanks, Keyonia Miller (Michael), and Mattie Miller. The love overflowed, then came the grandkids that he adored. Brielle Shanks, Kaleah Lynch, Kameron Lynch, Cairo Turner, Deedrick Shanks, Jr. “June June” and Mielle Miller all of Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to his wife and children , he leaves to cherish his siblings: Loretta Ard, Richard Ard (Materesa) of Perris, CA, John Ard (Sharlyn) of Los Vegas, Nevada, Kenny Ard (Theresa) of Fayetteville, NC, Patricia Johnson of New Orleans, LA, Marcel Crain of CA; his mother- in- law, Mattie “Gram” Shanks; a special sister- in-law, Ester Shanks Magee both of Franklinton, LA and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews sisters- in-law, brothers- in- law and friends.
He was preceded in heaven by his mother, Earlean Miller, his dad Pat Crain, a special uncle, Wilton Causey, Sr.; a special aunt, Lee Violet Causey and a sister, Betty Ann Robinson.
A Drive through viewing Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 4:00PM - 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 1:00PM at Outreach Full Gospel Baptist Church with Prophet/Pastor Antoine Grave - Pastor, Rev. Charlie Reed, Sr. - Officiant. Interment - Sweet Home Church Cemetery. Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
