Obituary

Willie Faye Wilson

December 17, 1950 - February 2, 2024

Mr. Willie Faye Wilson was born on December 17th, 1950 to the late J.B. Wilson and Mrs. Leatha Dyson-Wilson, in the town of Independence, La. He was the only child reared of this union. Willie departed this world on February 2, 2024, peacefully at his home in North Baton Rouge. He was 73 years old.

“Faye”, as he was affectionately called throughout his childhood, was loved tremendously by his family and friends. Faye enjoyed the simpler things about life. To know him, is to know that he only communicated “On The Circuit”. He was very ‘old school’. Willie enjoyed musicians such as Jimi Hendricks, Bob Marley, & Herbie Hancock. His stylish inspiration came from the black martial artist, Jim Kelly.

Willie served in the U.S Navy from 1969-’71. He was then assigned to the Navy Reserve from 1971-’75. He received an Honorable Discharge for his service. During that time, Willie became a father to his only son, Roderick.

Over the course of Willie’s life, he faced many challenges and conquered them all with his natural survival skills. Willie was a man of few words but when he spoke, it exuded volumes. He will be truly missed by those that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Willie Faye leaves his loving legacy and memories to his only son, Mr. Roderick Barker; his sister, Mrs. Pamela Collier; 5 beautiful granddaughters, Adrianna Patterson, Ashley Magee, Anissa Jenkins, Kyris Dillon, and Sydni Ramsey; 2 beautiful great-granddaughters, Chantel Cotton and Raquel Patterson; a lifetime best friend and confidant, Mr. Lionel Burkhalter. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, cousins, and loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. & Leatha Wilson; a sister, Tammy Causey; his paternal grandparents; maternal grandparents, T.C. & Easter Dyson; aunts and uncles.
