Arrested Teen Linked to Several Vehicle Thefts, Business Burglaries in St. Tammany

Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Property Crimes Division have arrested a local teen who is tied to numerous crimes which occurred in the Slidell area during the month of January. The 15-year-old male has confessed to three business burglaries, seven vehicle thefts, two attempted vehicle thefts and one vehicle burglary.  All of these occurred in January 2024 in the Slidell area.

During the business burglaries, he stole vaping items and a dirt bike, and caused thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to the businesses. STPSO Property Crimes detectives have recovered the dirt bike along with a golf cart and three other vehicles he stole.

The teen is no stranger to these detectives.  The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested him in late 2023 for a vehicle burglary.

He has been linked to similar crimes inside the city limits of Slidell, in St. Bernard Parish and in Picayune, Miss., and he is currently housed at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center, where he was previously booked by another agency on related charges.

“I thank our detectives who worked with their counterparts with the other agencies to arrest this juvenile for these crimes and to bring an end to his crime spree,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “I also thank them for the work they did to recover many of the stolen vehicles so they could be returned to their owners.”
