The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reports that an employee at a Slidell-area elementary school was arrested for simple battery in connection with an incident involving a student.
The STPSO was contacted Friday (January 19, 2024) after other school employees observed 44 year-old Margarita Shevchenko, a paraprofessional working with special needs students, “pop” a 7-year-old student on the mouth. The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday (January 18, 2024).
Following an investigation, Shevchenko was arrested Monday afternoon and released on a summons for one count of simple battery.
