Donald Allen Smith, Sr.

May 6, 1949 - January 27, 2024

Donald Allen Smith, Sr., resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away on January 27, 2024, at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, LA at the age of 74. Donald was born on May 6, 1949 in Sacramento, CA.  He was a member of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church.  He was an avid LSU fan and loved anything to do with the LSU Tiger athletics and also enjoyed the game of golf which he played often.  He was a veteran serving first in the Navy and later joining the National Guard.

Donald is survived by his wife Beth S. Smith; his sons Steven (Jeannie) Smith and Donnie Smith, Jr.; a daughter Angela Ard; his grandchildren Austin Bain, Carson Smith, Hudson Ripple, Landon Ripple, and Aaron Ard; his brothers James (Diane) Smith and Dennis (Karen) Smith; and his sisters Susan S. (Paul) Taylor and Jeanne Hand.

He is preceded in death by his parents Grover Cleveland Smith and Yvonne Aaron Jones Smith; a stepson Jason Bain; his brothers Gerald “Jerry” Smith and Chris Smith; and his sisters Marylyn Pierce and Donna Mayfield.

A service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church with the visitation to begin at 10:00 AM until the service starts at 11:00 AM.  Rev. Marcus Rosa will officiate the service and the interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
