Loreda Williams Holden

January 10, 1931 - January 15, 2024

Loreda Williams Holden, age 93 and a resident of the Canaan Community, passed away Monday night January 15, 2024 at her home. She was a longtime member of Canaan Baptist Church. Earlier in life, she was a founding member of Sharon Baptist Church before moving back home and returning to Canaan. Loreda worked in the office of Valley Forge School from the time it opened until its closing. She loved getting to know the children and seeing them every day. She also liked to keep track of the kids as they grew into adults and had families of their own. Loreda, alongside her husband, operated Holden’s Grocery for over 15 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping her house clean, tidy and well organized. Loreda loved her family most of all and was always proud of the Williams family and being able to live most of her life on the family property. She truly adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by: Daughter and Son in law: Rhonda and Mike Thompson; 2 Sons: Gerald Holden, Reggie Holden; Grandchildren and Spouses: Madeline and Greg Tatum, Justin and Kayla Thompson, Jamey and Rusti Holden, Katie Anthony, Dustin and Donnette Holden, Carrie Holden; Great-grandchildren: Brock, Anna Grace, Payton, Lucy, Bodie, Austin, Hinston, Mason, Levi, Hunter, Cayden, Gabriel, Colby, Ava, Noah, Addy; 2 Sisters and a Brother in law: Betty Wilson, Johnnie Sue and Elwood Addison; Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members

She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Holden, parents Wecie Williams and Vanda Seals Williams, sister Arlean Clary, brothers Joseph Williams, Lloyd Williams.

Visitation will be at Canaan Baptist Church (18486 Sanders Road, Franklinton) on Friday January 19th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Friday with Rev. Sidney Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Seals Cemetery.
