Catherine Berry

November 18, 1942 - January 8, 2024

Catherine “Cat” Berry, age 81, passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones on January 8, 2024. She was born on November 18, 1942, in Oma, Mississippi to Josie Fox and L.V. Berry. Catherine was a hardworking and loving mother, known for her support and dedication to her family. 

Catherine was a devout member of the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. She joined under the leadership of Reverend A.L. Owens and continued under the leadership of Pastor Calvin D. Jackson. Catherine enjoyed being apart of the Young Women’s Organization and Food Committee in church. Catherine will be remembered for her teasing jokes, her generosity to her children and grandchildren, and her unforgettable personality. 

Catherine is survived by her son, Frederick Berry, and her five daughters: Karen Peters(Jerome), Alicia Peters (Joe), Chrishay Moss (Curtis), Latina Taylor (Jeffrey), and Katrina Berry, all of Bogalusa, Louisiana. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jerome Jr, Latravia, Precious, Walter Jr, Shaquille Sr, Charles III, Shamar Sr, Jyerk, Shadwick, Princess, Shatiuna, Jameisha, and Paris. Great-grandchildren: Ladetric , Olavia, Jeromih, Rakel, Paiton , Ty’Jae, Payden, Aliyah, Shamar Jr, Shaniyah, Shaquille Jr, Ge’Ianna, Jakarri, Ga’Mirah and Sha’kia. Niece Casandra, Nephews Roy Jr., Roderick, Marcus, Micheal, Excel. Sister- in-laws: Rosetta Tillman, Agnes Berry and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Josie Fox, her father, L.V. Berry, and daughter Josie H. Berry brothers, Roy Lee Tillman, and Excel Berry.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Bogalusa, La. 

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January  20, 2024 at 2:30PM at Mt. Bethel Baprtist Church , 444 Elliot Ave, Bogalusa, LA with Pastor Calvin D. Jackson -Officiating Pastor, Officiating. Interment –Ponemah Cemetery.
