Lanelle Bannister Tannehill

May 6, 1923 - January 27, 2024

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Lanelle Bannister Tannehill, resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away on January 27, 2024 at the age of 100.  She was born in Bogalusa on May 6, 1923.  She was affectionately known as Othermother by her grandchildren, family and friends.  Lanelle was a member of Pettit Memorial Baptist Church and she loved her Pastor, Brother Tommy Pittman, who visited her often when she was unable to attend the services and she loved her church family.  She enjoyed the friendship of the members of the Southeast Garden Club for many years.  

Lanelle is survived by her children, Patricia and Charles Mizell, and Linda Hansen; her grandchildren Michele Marie Marcombe, Roger and Mikelyn Marcomb, Jessica Lea Tannehill, Chuck and Mariia Mizell, and Chad and Jenna Mizell; her great grandchildren Blake Marcomb, Alaina and Brennen Reed, Alex, Olivia, and Sophia Mizell, Ashley and Ryan Soileau, and Sarah Mizell; great great grandchildren Henry Soileau and Charlotte Soileau; and a special niece Myra Melissa Bannister.

She is preceded in death by her husband J.C. Tannehill; her sons Jerry Wayne Tannehill, Ronald David Tannehill, Michael Eugene Tannehill, and Gregory Blake Tannehill; a grandson William Moss Siegelin; her parents June Leon Bannister and Armour Bannister; her maternal grandparents Clarence and Willie Cox Pepper; and her paternal grandparents Ezekiel and Myra Melissa Banister.

A service to celebrate the life of Lanelle will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Pettit Memorial Baptist Church, 1033 Ave. G, Bogalusa, LA 70427, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM.  Rev. Tommy Pittman will officiate and interment will follow the funeral service at Ponemah Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Roger Marcomb, Blake Marcomb, Chuck Mizell, Chad Mizell, Alex Mizell, and Randy Bannister.

Words cannot express the appreciation to her friend Ms. Mychelle Muse who took such loving care of her and to the doctors, nurses, and workers at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to Mother, family, and friends during this time.
