Obituary

Norris Paul Bourgeois, Jr.

November 23, 1952 - January 19, 2024

Norris Paul Bourgeois, Jr., age 71 and a resident of Mount Hermon, passed away Friday night January 19, 2024 at North Oaks Medical Center. He was a native of Raceland, Louisiana, born on November 23, 1952 (and “Still a Chap” as always). Norris worked at Dairyman, Inc. for a time and then served as an engineer and mechanic on offshore tugboats before retiring. He was a true “Jack of All Trades” as he could fix or build just about anything and he worked as a handyman for family, friends and neighbors. Norris had a kind heart and was always willing to help others in need. He also had a “green thumb” and enjoyed planting a garden and many different types of fruit trees for his family. He loved to spread joy to people that he met, including all the nurses, doctors and patients he met during his own tough times. Quick to tell jokes and play pranks, Norris loved to make people smile and laugh, often saying he “was truly blessed, so how can I be sad”. He wore a big white beard for much of his life, meaning he played the role of Santa Claus many times, just another opportunity to spread joy to others and show love to the children. Norris had a special place in his heart for his pet Chihuahua “Cedar Rose” and he will be forever missed by all that knew and loved him.
