LSU AgCenter Will Hold 2024 Watermelon Education Meeting

The LSU AgCenter will hold a meeting for current and prospective growers of watermelons and other produce from 6:00 to 8:15 PM on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the LSU AgCenter’s Washington Parish office (1104-B Bene St., Franklinton). Dr. Pamela Hodson of the LSU AgCenter will explain what Seeds to Success (the Louisiana Farm to School program) offers to farmers. Doug McKean of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry’s Food Distribution Division will discuss options for growers to sell fruits and vegetables to schools and food banks. Dr. Mary Helen Ferguson of the LSU AgCenter will review watermelon production and pest management recommendations.
