Albert W. "A.W." Frey, Jr.

July 11, 1932 - October 19, 2023

Mr. A.W Frey, Jr., a resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana passed away on October 19, 2023, at his residence. He was 91 years old. A.W. was born on July 11, 1932, and he proudly served in the Navy in Korea from 1952 through 1956, displaying his unwavering commitment to his country.

After his military service, he went to work at the United Gas Pipeline as a foreman and then later a supervisor where he dedicated himself to his career and made lifelong friends.

A.W. was a faithful member of the Superior Avenue Baptist Church, where he found solace and community in his spiritual life. He was known for his warm-hearted nature and his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.

A.W.’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved wife Bobbye and his family. He cherished the moments spent hunting, fishing and creating cherished memories with his loved ones. His love and devotion to his family were unmatched, and his legacy will continue through the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren. A.W’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service and dedication that will be cherished and remembered.

A.W. is survived by two children Sheryl McBeth of Covington, La, Mike (Nancy) McBeth, of Pine, La, five grandchildren, Joshua Pepe, Desiree (Lee) Haight, Kristen (Randall) Barber, Scott Calmes, Travis (Autumn) McBeth, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews and his special beloved friend, Debbie Cavendish.

He was preceded in death by his parents A.W. Frey, Sr and Ethel Knight Frey, his wife of 68 years, Bobbye Varnado Frey, two sisters, Geraldine Frey Lott and Elaine Frey Smith and one nephew.

Special thanks to Enhabit Home Health and Hospice, Victoria Ladner, RN, Shelbi King, CNA and Chaplain Jacob Gill; Caregivers Leah Cowart, Judy Jordan and Lou Rawls who provided loving care and companionship during his long illness.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 23, 2023, at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M until time for the service at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Clay Norwood will officiate services and interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens with graveside military rites performed by The American Legion Magic City Post #24.
