Homeless Man Arrested After Setting Mobile Home on Fire Near Pearl River

A homeless man has been arrested for arson after he set a mobile home on fire Thursday (October 19, 2023) afternoon.

Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office were contacted Thursday afternoon by personnel with St. Tammany Fire District 1 following a residential structure fire in the 4800 block of Cypress Drive in the River Gardens area near Pearl River.

Detectives learned 26 year-old Anthony Fricke, a homeless man known to be staying in the area, had doused an uninhabited mobile home with gasoline before setting it on fire. Fricke was known to have stayed in the abandoned trailer in the past, but was not believed to be living there at the time of the fire.

A warrant was issued for Fricke’s arrest, and he was taken into custody later Thursday evening after an STPSO Patrol deputy observed him in a parking lot in the 400 block of Gause Blvd. West near Slidell.  Bond has been set at $25,000.00.
