Wilda Rebecca "Becky" Smith Elarton

May 28, 1935 - October 26, 2023

Wilda Rebecca “Becky” Smith Elarton, 88, a resident of Osyka, MS, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 26, 2023 at her home. Becky was born on May 28, 1935 in Bogalusa, LA to Nerlie Edward Smith and Myrtle Bankston Smith. 

Visitation will be at Osyka Baptist church in Osyka, MS from 2:00PM until 4:00PM on Sunday, October 29, 2023 and from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Monday, October 30, 2023 at the church. Interment will follow in Osyka Cemetery, Osyka, MS. Rev. Jacob Williams will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

She is preceded in death by parents, four brothers Wilburn, Wendell (Red), Eugene, and Bobby Smith, four sisters Beatrice Smith, Ola Mae Phillips, Betty Kralicek and Arelia Gill. 

She is survived by husband of nearly 63 years, Lloyd Douglas Elarton of Osyka, Ms.  Three daughters Nancy Morris (Wilkie) of Osyka, MS, Darenda Jones (Tommy) of  Magnolia, MS,  Jackie Gill (Scott) of Osyka, MS. Six Grandchildren, Jay Morris (Andrea), Bo Morris, Rebecca Seal (Brandon), Amy Keller(Garrett), Major Gill (Angela),  and Macey Spears (Michael).  Ten great grandchildren Wyatt, Lane, Jacob and Ashtyn Morris, Jase and Dane Seal, Waylon and Bobbi Jolynn Keller,  Jack and Slade Gill.  Two cherished sisters-in-law, Sadie “Johni” Elarton Shawver and Fran E. Beach Kinnison (Roger), along with several nieces and nephews whom she loved very dearly.  

Becky was an avid and talented painter and lover of flowers. She was a very active member of Osyka Baptist Church where served as hostess for many years. She will be fondly remembered and her character will live on through the generations that she helped raise, guide and mentor through life.  She will be dearly missed. 

Pallbearers will be:  Jay Morris, Bo Morris, Major Gill, Brandon Seal, Garrett Keller and Michael Spears.
