William A. "Bill" Jenkins

William A. “Bill” Jenkins passed away at his home in Pine, Louisiana on October 10, 2023.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses Roger W. Jenkins and his wife Jill G. Jenkins, Rhonda R. Lambert and her husband Terry L. Lambert and Sondra K. Hunt and her husband Matthew C. Hunt. He had six grandchildren Rosalind K. Wilson and her husband Peter A. Wilson II, William C. Jenkins and his wife Larkin S. Jenkins, Sarah H. Kinsey, and her husband Matthew A. Kinsey, David M. Hunt and his wife Collette P. Hunt, Leah G. Lambert, and Patrick Reid Lambert. William had three great grandchildren Peter A. Wilson III, Mary Rogers Wilson and Hunter A. Kinsey. He is also survived by his brother Marc W. Jenkins and sister Rebecca J. Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Ruth Rogers Jenkins, parents W.A. “Red” Jenkins and Gertrude K. Jenkins and other family members.
William was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on December 23, 1938. He graduated from Pine High School and attended Louisiana State University. He began his career working on a forestry team in the Southern Timber Division of Crown Zellerbach Corporation in the late 1950s. He ultimately moved in the accounting department and a few years later he was named Controller of the Southern Timber Division. In the mid-1980s he changed careers in the company and was named Wood Allocation Manager supplying all the regional sawmills with Pine Timber which became his true passion. He retired in 2002. He immediately began another career in Forestry Consulting working in Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi. He managed hundreds of timber sales for families and individuals. He worked for over 60 years in the forestry industry.
William was a member of the Louisiana Forestry Association and he also served on the Louisiana Forestry Association. He also worked in the Washington Parish Landowners Association. Bill was a member of Pine Lodge 264 Masonic Lodge.
William enjoyed attending church throughout his life and attended Pine Baptist Church for decades before moving to First Baptist Church of Franklinton in the late 1980s. He especially enjoyed his time as a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Franklinton (903 Cleveland Street, Franklinton) on Friday October 13th from 8:30 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Friday with Rev. Joey Miller and Dr. Jake Roudkovski officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine First Baptist Church Cemetery.
