Tropical Disturbances Today



Disturbance 1. Hurricane Lee is currently located about 385 miles ENE of the northern Leeward Islands and moving WNW at 12 MPH with 115 MPH maximum sustained winds. Lee is expected to pass well to the north of the northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico into early next week. However, Swells generated by Lee are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.  Dangerous surf and rip currents are expected to begin along most of the U.S. East Coast Sunday and Monday and worsen through the week.  

Disturbance 2. Tropical Storm Margot is currently located about 890 miles WNW of the Cabo Verde Islands moving WNW at 13 MPH with maximum sustained winds at 45 MPH. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
