Tropical Disturbances Today



Disturbance 1. Hurricane Lee is a large hurricane but is no threat to our area. Lee is on a forecast track to pass west of Bermuda today and tonight, approach the coast of New England and Atlantic Canada Friday and Saturday and move across Atlantic Canada Saturday night and Sunday. Lee is currently located about 265 miles SW of Bermuda moving north at 12 MPH with 100 MPH maximum sustained winds. 

Disturbance 2. Hurricane Margot is no threat to our area and is weakening over the central Atlantic. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Disturbance 3. Central Tropical Atlantic (AL97): A broad low pressure area is located about 1000 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and has become a little better organized since yesterday. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for additional development, and this system is likely to become a  tropical depression during the next day or so while it moves west-northwestward to northwestward at 10 to 15 mph across the central tropical Atlantic. Formation chance through 48 hours...high...90 percent and formation chance through 7 days...high...90 percent.
