While patrolling in the Slidell area Tuesday, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives located 28 year-old Barron Crawford, a convicted felon who was in possession of an illegal firearm and narcotics.
Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Proactive Enforcement Unit were conducting a proactive patrol in the area of a Slidell motel Tuesday (September 12, 2014), when they observed a suspicious subject, identified as Barron Crawford, in a vehicle.
While speaking to Crawford, the detectives became aware he was armed with a handgun. Crawford, who was a known convicted felon (multiple times over), was detained and his vehicle was searched. Detectives located approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine, a digital scale, other drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.
Crawford was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on charges of Possession of Schedule II CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon while in the Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Firearm or Carrying Concealed Weapon.
“Once again, thanks to the hard work of our Proactive Enforcement Unit, we have arrested a repeat offender and taken more dangerous drugs off the streets,” Sheriff Randy Smith said.
