Douglas Leroy "Buddy" Temples

July 19, 1947 - August 26, 2023 

Douglas Leroy "Buddy" Temples, age 76 and a longtime resident of Pine, passed away Saturday morning August 26, 2023 at his home. He was retired after a long career as a river pilot and tug boat captain. He moved barges and ships countless times up and down the mighty Mississippi River. Buddy was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church. He loved taking care of his beef cows, bailing hay and farming on his property. Buddy had a camp in Indian Village near Slidell, his favorite place to be, where he enjoyed fishing and riding in his boats. He liked to hang out with his friends and spend quality time with his family.

Survived by: Son: Shannon Temples of Pine; Daughter and Son in law: Tushanna and Chris Sumrall of Pine; Grandchildren: Alexis Temples, Ashley Temples, Addison Temples, Avery Temples, Asher Temples, Ty Temples, Billy Todd and Heather Morris, Chris Ann Morris, Allison Terrell; Great-grandchildren: Andre, Aiden, Kinley, Beau, Levi, Nevaeh; Sister and Brother in law: Betty and Lavon Kemp of Lumberton, MS; Also numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends

He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert Temples, Sr. and Marcelle Crain Temples, brother Randy Temples and sister Diane Temples.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday August 30th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue Thursday at Central Missionary Baptist Church from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Eld. Doyle Ball and Eld. Jason Skipper officiating. Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.
