Irma Bond Pettit

Irma Bond Pettit, a resident of Franklinton, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday evening August 15, 2023. She was born in Washington Parish on August 15, 1927 and died on her birthday at the age of 96. She was a member of Sunlight Baptist Church that always enjoyed reading her Bible. Irma loved traveling, and together with her husband, they took vacations in their motorhome all over the country, including a trip to Alaska, which she enjoyed very much. She liked to complete puzzles and do crossword puzzles. Irma also enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds at her home and watching them fly around her porch.
Survived by: 2 Daughters: Sandra Pettit of Baker, Judy Babin of Central; 2 Granddaughters: Traci Williams, Brandi and Aaron Bordelon and their daughter Ellie; Sisters in law: Nell Bond, Melva Bond, Charlene Stafford; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 73 years James D. Pettit, son in law Frank Babin, parents Jewel Bond and Isabel Penny Bond, sisters Yvonne Edwards, Nelda Sheridan, brothers Woodson Bond, Durwin Bond, Douglas Bond, C.F. Bond, Jewel Bond, Jr., father in law and mother in law George and Lula Pettit.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to her loving caregiver Cassandra Magee and her wonderful family Pumpkin, B.B. and Jazz and also to St. Tammany Hospice for their care and support.
A memorial service will be held at Crain Funeral Home Friday August 25th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Leroy McElveen officiating. Visitation for her family and friends will begin at 12:00 pm.
