On Friday (August 25, 2023), after a thorough investigation, Bogalusa Police Department Detectives arrested Raymond May of Bogalusa, for his involvement in a shooting that took place on January 14, 2023 at the Ivy Trace Apartments on on E. 8th Street .
One male victim was shot multiple times, while outside of his apartment. He was transported to a regional hospital.
Ray was arrested after a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle in which he was a passenger of. During the arrest, May was also found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun, multiple extended magazines and a large assortment of ammunition. May was booked on the charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Illegal Use of Weapons, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.
This shooting is still under investigation and additional arrests are expected.
