Bogalusa City Council Meeting of August 1, 2023

In case you missed our livestream of the meeting on our FB page, here is video of the Bogalusa Council meeting held on August 1, 2023. 

The Council 

• considered three resolutions (beginning at 4:25 into the video): 

1. a resolution to authorize submission of the pre-application for the LDEQ subsidy award process $500,000 for the purpose of sewer treatment plant rehabilitation. APPROVED
2. a resolution to express support for Mayor Tyrin Truong’s decision to wait on appointing a Fire Chief. This resolution was controversial, receiving comments from the public, the Mayor and from the Council. APPROVED
3. a resolution to authorize the mayor to execute a Memorandum of Understanding Agreement by and Between the City of Bogalusa and Northshore Technical Community College YouthBuild Program. APPROVED

• introduced six ordinances that will be up for Public Hearings and votes at the next meeting on August 15, 2023 (beginning at 26:30 into the video)

1. an ordinance extending the employment contract of Adams and Reese LLP, of New Orleans, Louisiana, as special counsel to the City of Bogalusa with respect to the issuance and Administration of Bonds and other indebtedness, the holding of elections and other related financial matters; and authorizing the execution of an amended and restated contract of employment in connection with the foregoing
2. an ordinance requested by the Planning and Zoning for the Kidney & Hypertension Associates of Bogalusa to adopt a permanent freestanding, on- premise, two sided, illuminated monument sign at 1425 Avenue F
3. an ordinance requested by the Planning and Zoning from Tina Ratliff for removal of a sign located at 923 S. Columbia Street, at Magic City Tire, and to install as per submitted design, a permanent, freestanding, on-premises, two -sided, changeable message sign across the street at 904 S. Columbia Street (Zoned C), which is owned by Ms. Ratliff
4. an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into a Lease Agreement with District A Neighborhood Association
5. an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into a Master Services Agreement between Apptegy, Inc. and the City of Bogalusa for the website
6. an ordinance setting the cost of Rental Inspections

• held Public Hearing and voted on eight ordinances (beginning at 31:30 into the video)

1. an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract between the City of Bogalusa and Geaux Jobs Workforce Area 20. APPROVED
2. an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract between the City of Bogalusa and Situs Development Collective, LLC for the Bogalusa Community Center/Emergency Shelter Planning and Construction. APPROVED
3. an ordinance authorizing the mayor to sign a contract by and between the Division of Administration and the City of Bogalusa for a LGAP Grant. APPROVED
4. an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract with Billes Architects, LLC. for the renovations of the City Hall. APPROVED
