Disturbance 1. Tropical Storm Don is moving toward the northwest near 14 mph with maximum sustained winds near 60 mph. A turn to the north is expected later today, followed by a northeastward motion on Sunday, and begin weakening by tonight or Sunday morning, Don is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone on Sunday or Sunday night. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
Disturbance 2. The small area of low pressure in the central Tropical Atlantic is roughly midway between the Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles. It continues to show signs of organization. Some additional gradual development is anticipated and this system will likely become a tropical depression by early next week while it moves westward across the tropical Atlantic. Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent and formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent.
