On Monday (June 12, 2023) in Bogalusa, Detective Randy Reviere,of the Washington Parish Sheriff's
Office was awarded the Deputy of the Year award from the American Legion Post 24. Detective Reviere has been at the Sheriff’s office for over 20 years, where he worked as a patrol deputy for many years before retiring and then returning as a detective and a victim's advocate. His expertise in criminal matters and compassion for victims were both noteworthy.
At the ceremony at the American Legion Hall, supported by the presence of fellow detectives and deputies, as well as his family, Detective Reviere accepted the award in a jovial manner. In his acceptance speech, he thanked Sheriff Seal for his leadership in bringing the WPSO to the current professional level and for Warden Chris Hickman, for being a mentor to him while on patrol. He also thanked Chief Brent Jones, for his strong support of all aspects of the WPSO giving deputies and detectives the tools needed to complete their jobs, and Chief Mike Haley, for bringing a wealth of law enforcement expertise and experience to the organization.
Detectives, Deputies and Randy Reviere’s peers say that he is an excellent report writer and he pays very close attention to detail. He is also well liked and respected, and approaches his job with enthusiasm and compassion. Detective Reviere received an immediate and unanimous vote from the command staff for the American Legion Post 24 Deputy of the Year award.
Sheriff Randy “Country” Seal said, “Detective Randy Reviere is a tremendous asset to WPSO and is very deserving of the award from the American Legion. He is an outstanding law enforcement officer and I am pleased we could be here to show our support in honoring him in such a special way.”
