Jo Ann Thomas Hightower
September 13, 1948 - May 23, 2023
Jo Ann Thomas Hightower, age 74 and a longtime resident of the Lawrence Creek Community, passed away Tuesday morning May 23, 2023 at Riverside Medical Center. She worked at Crain’s Seafood Restaurant in Sheridan for several years before retiring to raise her family. Jo Ann was a longtime active member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she attended the Ladies Sunday School Class and worked with vacation bible school through the years. She was an excellent cook, especially her red velvet cake, and she loved to watch her favorite TV soap operas every day. Jo Ann was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother that adored her young grandchildren. She enjoyed going to all their ballgames and events to cheer them on.
Survived by: 3 Sons and a Daughter in law: Chad Hightower of Franklinton, Brad and Ann Hightower of Mt. Hermon, Brandon Hightower of Franklinton; 2 Grandsons: Jayden Hightower of Mt. Hermon, Caydon Keith Hightower of Franklinton; 4 Granddaughters: Brittany Hodges, Ali and L.J. Gay, Mirah Hodges all of Mt. Hermon, Brenlynn Gerald of Franklinton; 3 Great-grandchildren: Tucker Landry, Gunnar Gay, Remi Gay; Sister: Joyce Thomas Sorrell; Nieces and Nephews: Lisa and Gary Hyatt, Cindy and Bubba Taylor; Also numerous sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends
She was preceded in death by her husband Bud Hightower, parents W.V. and Helen Thomas, bother in law Gill Sorrell, nephew Jody McNeese, father in law and mother in law Luther and Velma Hightower and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday May 26th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday at Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church (28608 James Creel Road, Franklinton, LA) from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 2:00 pm with Eld. Don Jacobs and Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.
