C.M. Magee
June 4, 1944 - May 1, 2023
Charlie Melton Magee Jr. went to his heavenly home on Monday May 1, 2023 after a lengthy illness. C.M., as he was known to his family and friends, was a lifelong resident of the Lawrence Creek Community and a graduate of Thomas School. He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Afterwards, he spent many years running a dairy farm, and doing electrical work. He was a member of New Beulah Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School. He could often be found in his favorite chair studying his Bible. C.M. loved to deer hunt, quail hunt and go fishing. He also enjoyed planting a garden, especially watermelons.
C.M. is survived by his children; Carol (Willie) Hoyt, Sheryl (Brian) Holliday, Scott (Becky) Magee, and Shanda (Darren) Thomas; his brothers; William Magee, Stanley Magee and Wilford (Peggy) Magee. A brother in law: Doyle (Martha) Ladner; his grandchildren: Courtney (Chris) Kopelman, Mitchel Magee, Kayla (Jessie) Hoyt, Colton (Megan) Crain, LeAnna (Dustin) Kerbow, Stephanie (Dakota) McNeese, Chase Payne, Madison Thomas, Mallory Thomas, and Nate Holliday. His great grandchildren; Rachael Hoyt, Sarah Hoyt, Taylor Hoyt, Makenli Hoyt, Elijah Copeland, Mia Kopelman, Aiden Crain, Remi Crain, Ayden Magee, Lane Magee, Weston Kerbow, Waylon Kerbow, Grady McNeese, Jaxx McNeese, and Breelyn McNeese. He also had many nieces, nephews and extended family whom he loved.
C.M. was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Linda Elaine Ladner Magee, his parents, Melton and Maudine Magee, a sister, Eloise Magee, his father in law and mother in law, Albert and Eva Ladner, as well as other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday May 5th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Friday with Bro. Patrick Magee and Bro. Lerand Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee Family Cemetery near his home.
Pallbearers will be: Mitchel Magee, Colton Crain, Chase Payne, Dustin Kerbow, Jessie Hoyt, Dakota McNeese and David Pigott. Honorary pallbearers are: Chris Kopelman and Nate Holliday, Dwayne Magee
