The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the apprehension of a homicide suspect on Monday (May 1, 2023). A WPSO deputy was dispatched to Pico Road, Franklinton, in reference to a possible homicide. While patrolling the area, the WPSO deputy spotted a vehicle matching the dispatched description and with assistance from the Franklinton Police Department and another WPSO deputy, a felony traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. The driver was detained by WPSO and transported to a home on Cumnock Road. Upon arrival, a WPSO deputy located a deceased male subject inside the residence. The deceased victim’s name is Stanley E. Padgett and he died from gunshot wound(s).
The suspect, was detained and $4,900.00 was recovered from her pockets. The scene was turned over to the detectives with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division.
The suspect has been identified as 60 year-old Susanne Jenkins and booking information shows her to be a resident of Cumnock Road, Franklinton.
Sheriff Randy Seal expressed his appreciation to the WPSO Deputies and the deputies and officers who assisted in the apprehension of the suspect. Sheriff Seal said, “I want to thank the all of those involved in this case for their hard work and dedication. Their efforts were instrumental in ensuring justice for this tragic event.”
