District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that on Wednesday (April 26, 2023) a 12-person jury in St. Tammany Parish unanimously found Jacques Anthony Garnett, age 56 and of Atlanta, Georgia, guilty as charged on first-degree rape of a victim under the age of thirteen. The rape occurred in Slidell, Louisiana. District Judge Reginald Badeaux presided over the trial.
At sentencing on June 14, 2023, Garnett faces a mandatory life sentence, without the benefit of parole or probation.
Brandi Dohre and Elizabeth Authement prosecuted the case.
