In the beginning of January 2023, the Pike County Sheriff's Office started receiving multiple reports in
reference to Identity Theft, Fraud and Uttering Forgery. During the investigation, it was discovered that Cayla Jade Lawrence was getting personal identification from multiple victims and using social security numbers and altering checks. On February 8, 2023, Cayla Jade Lawrence was arrested and charged with Fraud, Identity Theft, and Uttering Forgery. No bond has been set at this time.
Through a tip received, Pike County Detectives along with Amite County Detectives, executed a search warrant at the 6000 block of Isaac Road and recovered more personal information of other potential victims. Bradley Mitchell was arrested in connection with the case and charged with Uttering Forgery, Conspiracy, and Obtaining Personal Identity Information for Unlawful Acts. No bond has been set at this time.
The investigation is still ongoing as there may be more victims involved.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
