Jerry Delos Owens

Jerry Delos Owens was born on December 15, 1948, in Angie, Louisiana and he departed this life at the age of 74, on February 8, 2023 at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
He is preceded in death by his mother Annie Mae Peters Owens and father, Boyd Owens; sisters Edna Pearl Henry and Helen Owens Moses; and brother, Samuel Owens.
Jerry was a graduate of Wesley Ray High School in Angie, Louisiana. He was a member of Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 1968, he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably until his final discharge in 1984. During his tenure, he served his county both domestically and abroad, completing tours of duty in Germany; Fort Leopardwood, Missouri; Fort Hood, Texas; and the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He would later return to Baton Rouge, where he worked for serval years in the health care industry before his retirement in 2019. Jerry enjoyed watching football and was a New Orleans Saints fan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Sanzanna Copernita Dean and son-in-law, Joseph Dean, III; son Jerry Brodnell Owens; grandchildren: Emily Camille Dean, Joseph Dean, IV, Kayla Kristine Owens, Isabella Maria Owens, and Giavanna Rose Owens; sisters: Evelyn Owens and Doretha Abram; brothers: Thomas Owens and Claudell Owens; partner: Alma Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Visitation will take place from 11:00-1:00 and the funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church, 120 Sunlight Church Rd, Sandy Hook, MS 39478. Services will be officiated by Reverend A.R. Moses. Internment will be held at Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
