Karen Viola Toney Thompson

January 23, 1951 - January 25, 2023

Karen Viola Toney Thompson, age 72 and a resident of Folsom, passed away Wednesday morning January 25, 2023 at her daughter’s home after a lengthy illness. She helped care for each of her grandchildren and when they aged into school, Karen followed them by working in the cafeteria at Madisonville Elementary for several years. She loved shopping with her family, always looking for the best sales. Karen enjoyed reading in her spare time.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: William Hollis Thompson, Jr. and Melissa Thompson of Bedico; Daughter and Son in law: Gwendolyn Thompson Singley and Brandon Singley of Madisonville; 5 Grandchildren: Shai Thompson, Cole Hackney, Taylor Perilloux, Dawson Hackney, Wade Singley; 3 Sisters: Joanne Niquiporo of Hammond, Carolyn Magee of Pine, Debbie Hackney of Covington; Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Hollis Thompson, Sr., parents Herman Toney and Lillie Folks Toney, a brother Leroy Toney and other family members.

Karen was laid to rest in San Pedro Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery following a graveside funeral service for her family.
