On Friday January 20, 2023, in the hours just before midnight, officers with the Bogalusa Police Department came into contact with Chas Smith, a 21 year old male, who was known to have multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest in connection with two shootings that occurred in Bogalusa in the summer of 2022.
Detectives sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Smith in connection with the shooting death of 14 year old Landan Williams, which occurred on June 26, 2022, around 9:30 pm, in the 1600 block of Main Street. Click here a previous related story
Detectives also sought arrest warrants for Smith in his connection to a shooting that occurred on July 27, 2022, around 1130 pm, in the 1100 block of West 7th Street. Neither of the two victims were hit in the shooting on West 7th street, however, there was property damage.
Smith was apprehended without incident and booked into the Bogalusa City Jail on multiple warrants and later transferred to the Parish jail in Franklinton.
