Carolyn Knight Mixon

January 10, 1946 - December 8, 2022

On December 8, 2022, Mrs. Carolyn Gayle Knight Mixon passed away at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa, LA. She was a life-long resident of Washington Parish and a member of Ben’s Ford Baptist Church. Throughout her life, Mrs. Mixon was a "loving Shepard" deeply devoted to caring for all animals big and small. Once upon a time, Mrs. Mixon owned and operated M&M Kennels where she raised Blueticks, Redbones, Beagles, and Redticks that competed for Best In Show at events conducted throughout the years. Year after year, season after season, Mrs. Mixon's other passion was time spent outdoors planting and tending to her huge selection of beautiful flowers, trees, and plants. Her other "hidden" talent was writing poetry, later published alongside her peers' works.

She is survived by a son: Robert W. Mixon, Jr.; three daughters: Anita G. Mixon Cooper, Robin L. Mixon, and Alicia E. Mixon; one grandson: Brandyn Cooper; a granddaughter: Savannah Smith; one brother: Lavon (Ruby) Knight; a very special friend: Charlie (Charlene) Easterling; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mrs. Mixon was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, Mr. Robert Wayne Mixon, Sr.; her parents: Harrison Lamar Knight, Sr. and Louise Mae Kennedy Knight; four sisters: Juanita (Denny) Knight Steadman, Willie (Ora) Knight Youngblood, Lillie Estelle Knight, and Ouida Knight Hendry; and two brothers: William (Betty) Henry Knight and Harrison (Pat) Lamar Knight, Jr.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on December 13, 2022 at H. L. Knight Cemetery, 54560 L. Knight Road, Franklinton, Louisiana 70438
