Obituary

Elowese Thomas Wood

May 18, 1924 - October 27, 2022

Elowese Thomas Wood, age 98 and of Tylertown, MS, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022. She was born Sunday, May 18, 1924 in Washington Parish, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, Mississippi. Visitation will also be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 1:00 PM until funeral service at 2:00 PM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in Tylertown, Mississippi. Burial will follow in the Wood Family Cemetery.  Brother Landon Lambert will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wood was a loving and devoted mother of 9 children. Being a homemaker, overseer of the family farm, and Avon saleslady for 40 plus years in Walthall County, MS expressed her love for her family.   At the annual Wood Family reunions, she was famous for her cornbread dressing, pecan pie, and lemon pie. Her faith for The Lord was strengthened as a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Elowese will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elton Earl Wood; sons Bobby Mitchell Wood and Billy Joe Wood; daughters Elaine Wood and Donnis Faye Branch; father Lucious L Thomas; mother Rebecca Brock Thomas; grandchildren Angela Faith Wood and Samantha Michelle Wood; brothers Wilson Thomas and Euell Thomas; sisters Louise Martin, Eva Knight, and Ona Faye Breland.

Survivors include her sons Rodney E Wood, Dwayne Wood (Gina), and Samuel Todd Wood; daughters Delores Dillon and Janice Marie Gerald; sisters Rena Mae Turnage, Genell Ard, and Lucille Kennedy; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers will be Landon Gerald, Ali Najdi, Jason Branch, Clay Dillion, Todd Dillon, and Brandon Wood.

Honorary pallbearers will be Amir Najdi, Lavell Gerald, Dustin Wood, Reeza Najdi, Majeed Najdi, Brain Wood, Robert Wood, Steven Wood, and Ashton Wood.
