Abel Don Halbert

November 3, 1993 - October 14, 2022

Abel Don Halbert, age 28 and a resident of Varnado, passed away early Friday morning October 14, 2022 at North Oaks Medical Center. He grew up in the Pine Community and attended the Thomas schools and Pine High School. Abel played youth football and also 2 years for the Pine High Raiders football team. He was currently working in construction. Abel enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He loved to go swimming in the local creeks and rivers any chance that he could. Abel loved to spend time with his family and wanted them all to get together as often as they could. He adored his four sons and cherished all the time they spent together.

Survived by: Sons: Zayden Knight, Braxton Halbert, Stiles Halbert, Lawsen Halbert and their mother Misty Summer Knight of Enon; Parents: Tammy and Michael Cornish of Varnado; Siblings: Keywanda Cornish, Keyuna Cornish, Michael Cornish, Jr., Donivan Jones, Anthony Cornish, McKayla Cornish; Grandmother: Laura Sanford; Nephews and a Niece: Cayden Jones, Grayson Jones, Jaxon Cornish, Anthony Cornish, Jr., Aiva Cornish; Also survived by many more nephews, nieces, other family members and many friends

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents Donnie Eugen Halbert and Kathleen O’Bryant Halbert, grandfather Keith Jones, great-grandparents Jesse and Janice Jones and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Monday October 24th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Rev. David Easterling officiating. Burial will follow in the Corkern Cemetery.
