Charles Edward Thomas

July 19, 1941 - September 12, 2022

Charles Edward Thomas, age 81 and a resident of the Lawrence Creek Community, passed away peacefully Monday night September 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He worked for Larry Knight dairy farm for several years then was a tugboat captain for many years. Charles most recently worked as a pallet maker for Jones Lumber Company. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Charles was a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church and he had a special place in his heart for his pet dog “Bear”. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survived by: Wife of 60 years: Bobbie Magee Thomas of Lawrence Creek; 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Bryan Thomas, Darren and Shanda Thomas all of Lawrence Creek; Daughter: Sandra Scallan of Franklinton; Grandchildren and Spouses: Monica and James Smith, Raven Thomas, Madison Thomas, Mallory Thomas, Stephanie and Dakota McNeese, Alicia and Dustin Givens, Sean Scallan, Michael and Destiny Scallan; Great-grandchildren: Kadence, Brantley, Beans and Kenny Smith, Jake Ryan, Bry-Leigh and Trase Stafford, Emma and Olivia Givens, Natalie Scallan; Sisters: Wilda Branch, Linda Magee; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Jim McCain, Margie and J.D. Warren, Betty Neal, Peggy and Keith Thomas, Sharon and Randy Crain, Larry and Kay Magee, Tommy and Theresa Magee, Floyd and Vivian Magee, Tony Magee; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by an infant son Allen Ladon Thomas, parents Edgar Thomas and Rosener Hobgood Thomas, brother and sister in law Billy and Doraveen Thomas, sister and brother in law Georgie and J.D. Moore, sister Lucy McCain, brothers in law Buddy Branch, Marvin Magee, father in law and mother in law Ednell and Margie Magee, sister in law Renea Terrell, brothers in law James Magee, Kelvin Magee.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday September 16th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Friday with Eld. Duane Ball, Eld. Richard Magee, Eld. Adam Luper and Eld. Yancy Magee officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas/Forest Haven Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Michael Scallan, Sean Scallan, James Smith, Dustin Givens, Stephen Stuart, Adney Whaley

Honorary Pallbearers are his beloved great-grandchildren
