Mark Anthony Smith

October 6, 1963 - July 6, 2022

Mark Anthony Smith was born on October 6, 1963. He was the eleventh of twelve children from the union of the late Joseph and Elnora Burton Smith.

Mark graduated from Franklinton High in 1982 and joined the Air Force. After his military service he worked as a welder until an injury rendered him disabled. A Hurricane Katrina survivor, Mark returned to Franklinton and helped take care of his mother until her passing in 2012. Mark’s compassionate spirit extended to animals; cattle, horses, goats, strays, and especially Bo’s dog, Fred. Mark enjoyed watching wrestling, Sci Fi, and chilling to contemporary jazz.

He leaves to cherish his memory 10 siblings, Joe Nathan (Mary) of Oxon Hill, MD, Linda (Leonard) Wilson of Franklinton, LA, McKiethen “Leek” (Lise) of Gulfport, MS, Brenda (Norman) Bell of DeSoto, TX, Edward “Bo” of Franklinton, LA, Clyde (Devorah) of Ruth, MS, Dock of Baton Rouge, LA, Gwendolyn (Tommy) of Baton Rouge, LA, Barbara (Rodney) Sanders of Miami, FL, and Patricia (Wilton “Jay”) Semien of Baton Rouge, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mark was proceeded in death by his like-a-father brother, Larry.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 1:00PM - 3:00PM followed by the funeral service at 3:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home with Elder Alvin Partman - Officiating. Interment will be be at the Smith Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
