Obituary

Leah Ott Johnson

January 31, 1930 - June 17, 2022

Leah Ott Johnson, a longtime, active community member of Franklinton, La went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2022 at the age of 92. Leah was born on January 31, 1930 to her loving parents, Grace Eleanor Ott and John Monroe Ott, who have both gained their heavenly home.

Her love of education led Leah to attend Southwest Louisiana University where she obtained her degree in Home Economics. Leah married the love of her life, Judge Delos R. Johnson Jr, on September 1, 1950, and enjoyed every minute of the 50 years by his side before his passing. Not a day passed after the death of her husband that Leah did not speak of her love and fondness for him. While she will be missed by many, we are thankful that she is again in the arms of her beloved husband. Leah is also preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy and Mary Virginia.

As a mother, Leah is survived by her three children whom she adored, John Keller, Jeffrey Adrian and wife, Rebekah, and Caroline Griffith Jackson and husband, Don. Leah is also survived by her grandchildren, better known as her pride and joy who affectionately referred to her as, ‘Hi-mama’, Caroline Grace Fitzgerald, Emmie Adele Chaney, Margaret Jess Patti, Jonas Stark Johnson, and Hannah Sophia Johnson as well as her great-grandchildren McKenna, Emma, Carson, John Travis, Anna Claire, Ada Faith, and Mila Grace. Leah is also survived by her sister Jackie, as well as neighbors and dear friends, Marilyn and Dick Richardson and Betty and Roy Richard.

Leah enjoyed surrounding herself with family, friends, and neighbors, as well as playing Bridge. She was known for her social personality and quick wit which was matched by her classy suit attire and freshly manicured hairstyle. Leah enjoyed telling stories about her parents and family over which she gleamed. Leah was a lady of Christ who was a faithful charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She cared deeply for and spoke highly of her church family and especially enjoyed her Sunday School class led by her dear friend, Ann Warner.

Please join Leah’s family in celebrating her life on Monday June, 20th, at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Franklinton, LA. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am with Dr. Gene Richards and Dr. John Robson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellis Cemetery.

For 92 years you fought the good fight, you kept the faith, and you finished the race. Rest easy in the arms of the Lord, Hi-mama. Rest easy.
