Obituary

David Lee King

August 14, 1930 - April 7, 2022

Bro. David Lee King was born August 14, 1930, to the late Silas and Myrtis Buckley King of Foxworth, MS.  He attended school in Marion County, MS.  He later joined the U. S. Army as medic in 1952-1956. While serving in the military, he met the love of his life, Janie Mae Birch, later he chose her to be his wife.  He was employed at Boh-Bros Construction as a laborer until he retired.

Bro. David attended First Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Howard E. Quillen, Jr.  Bro. David loved his family and was a father figure to his nieces and nephews.  He did everything in his power to express his love. He also enjoyed watching western movies.

David was survived by one stepdaughter: Addie Adams (Tony) Hudson; three grandsons: Anthony, Perry, and David Sykes; one sister: Emma Anderson of Los Angeles, CA; special niece and caregiver: Patricia K (Donald) Lewis; niece and helper: Rosa K. Young; special nephew: E. L. King who resided with him and a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family & friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janie Mae King, parents: Silas and Myrtis Buckley King, two brother: Jesse James King and Robert Paul King, five sisters: Ida Belle Jones, Bertha Varnado, Julia Griffith, Katie McGowan and Annie Mae King.

Drive through viewing will be Friday, April 22, from 4pm – 6pm at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 23, 11am at First Church of God in Christ with Bishop Howard E. Quillen officiating. Interment will be at the Bogalusa Cemetery. Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements.
