Obituary

Arcell Causey

December 10, 1929 - March 15, 2022

Arcell Causey Sr., a son given by the Lord to Elder Edgar Doll and Luella Causey, was born in Tylertown, Mississippi on December 10, 1929, and went home to be with the Lord from the St. Clara Manor Nursing Facility in Baton Rouge, La, the morning of Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Today we rejoice in the knowledge that he has passed the barrier of time as we know it, and is forever at home with the Savior he faithfully served for many years.

Deacon Causey received his education from the Walthall County, Mississippi school system.   In February of 1948, he was married to Gladys Wilson Causey who transitioned on December 22, 2012.    Together for more than 64 years, they experienced the changing scenes of life in the joyous and fruitful companionship, which the Lord had entrusted to them.

At the age of 14, Deacon Arcell Causey accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized and filled with Holy Ghost within the Church of God in Christ.  For over 55 years Deacon Arcell Causey has been a member of the Lear Hill COGIC congregation.

It was the privilege and joy of the family and congregation to know Deacon Arcell Causey as a man of faith.   The church was the primary focus of his family life where he served faithfully as the Senior Deacon.

Deacon Causey displayed a heightened spirit of giving, and love of service, which today so richly bless our memories.  He was a model provider for his family as he was seen helping and providing for his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family, and others. He also showed great respect and love for his pastors, Superintendents Leonard Hill and Leslie Fields. He really enjoyed working in his own business, watching Westerns and listening to the preached word.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories four daughters Mrs. Bettye (Deacon Ennick) Jordan of Woodville, WA.; Evangelist Missionary Donna (Elder Erskine) Magee of Geismar, La.; Supervisor Diane (Deacon Lloyd) Van Dyke of Fayetteville, Ga.; and Mrs. Lillie (Deacon Roy) Stueckrath of Little Elm, Tx.; and three sons, Mr. Arcell Causey Jr. of Franklinton, La.; Mr. Jerry Causey of Franklinton, La.; Mr. Tyrone (Shondell) Causey of New Orleans, La.; three Sisters, Mrs. Bernice Tate of Loganville, Ga.; Ms. Eunice Knight of Palmdale, Ca.; and Mrs. Josephine (Bishop Hillier); two sisters-in-law, Ms. Bobbie Brown;  Ms. Linda Causey.

Preceding him in death were his wife Mother Gladys Causey; his father and mother Elder Edgar Doll & Sister Luella Causey; five brothers, Mr. Edgar Causey Jr., Mr. Pernell Causey, Mr. Ned Causey, Elder Harlon Causey, and Mr. Myles Causey.
