Essie Merle Stringer

August 3, 1934 - March 24, 2022

Mrs. Essie Merle Stringer, 87, departed this life on March 24, 2022 in Bogalusa, LA.

Mrs. Essie Merle Stringer was born on August 3, 1934 at Stateline Road, Mississippi to the late Maxie and J.W Hatcher.  She married Joe Natan Stringer, and to this union two children were born Joanne Stringer Pigott and Royan Stringer.

Mrs. Essie was a natural nurturer, she took care of several of her family members at her home, including her mother and her brother James Hatcher for many years.  Anytime a family member was sick and she was able, she was there for them.  She loved her kids and grandchildren dearly.  "Madea" as she was called by her grands  made sure all of them had bibles so that they would know of the Lord.

She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Stringer Pigott, grandchildren; Shonda Pigott, Serena (William) Crumedy, Candy Stringer, Kirby Dean Kayler McGown, Shedrick Smith and Sherman Smith, nineteen great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, a sister Letha Pearl Alexander, one brother John Hatcher Sr., a sister-in-law Dorothy Stringer and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

The Funeral Service will be at 12:00 PM on April 1, 2022 at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
