Obituary

John Alexander Lemly

September 2, 1942 - March 4, 2022

John Alexander Lemly passed peacefully in his sleep on March 4th, 2022, at the age of 79. He was born on September 2, 1942, in Salisbury, NC to Roscoe Lee and Nora Mavis (Holshouser) Lemly.

John was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and upon graduation, he served as an air traffic controller in the United States Air Force. He then was employed as a territory manager at Scott Paper Company for 25 years.

He is survived by two children who loved him very much and will miss him until reunited for eternity. A daughter, Katy Elizabeth Lemly of Bogalusa, LA, and a Son, John Alexander “Alex” Lemly, Jr. of Bogalusa, LA, He is also survived by his former wife of 14 years, Toni Schilling Lemly of Bogalusa, LA, and a dear first cousin and friend, Sue Ann (Horton) Worley.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Lee and Nora Mavis (Holshouser) Lemly of Salisbury, NC, his maternal grandparents, Luther Andrew Alexander and “Mommy” Sallie Ann (Raney) Holshouser, and his maternal aunts and uncles: Halma Marie Horton, Edith Wilfred Rawlings, Dare Nadyne Young, Lala Janette Baker, Ralph Paul Holshouser, Dwight Willard Holshouser, Kenneth Donald Holshouser, and Katie Sue Morgan.

A military graveside service will be held at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, March 6th, 2022, at 2 PM.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Mark and Sharon McGehee for their friendship and care.
